MyWay Updates & details

MyWay is our vision for teaching and learning, going forward. My Wayzata.
Current information is published on the C & I website. Includes slideshow, fact sheet and FAQs.
K - 2 Jan., 6 - 8 Jan. Three year rollout.
Professional Development for K - 2 on Nov. 8 or 9
Policies and procedures - making progress. Has to be approved by the board.
There will be a handbook covering student responsibilities, parent/guardian expectations.
Middle school (EMS and CMS) response from parents has been positive.
Working on middle school support and rollout. MS will be needed to checkout, 3 nights per school. Wade will send out dates.
1 to 1 - Devices are going to be student managed. This means the MS won't have to touch them for updates.
3 - 1 Devices will be more closely managed. They will be updated 4 times a year. Number of devices in K - 2 rooms will be decided according to October enrollment. Rollout will be late January, early February.
Teacher iPads will still be teacher managed.
Trouble shooting guide would be helpful.

e-resources
  • research done - share and compile what we already know regarding ebooks, subscriptions, and any other paid e-resources we use
  • ebooks
    • Mackin - Via. Fiction titles would be 1:1 downloads.
    • Follett - Similar to Via
    • Lerner's "Brainhive" - Pay $1 for each checkout.
    • Overdrive - $12,000 annual subscription. $6000 of this goes toward purchasing their books. We would not own the books
    • QUESTIONS: Will Via and Follet w/Kindle? What is the price difference between Via/Mackin and the publisher's price? What is "Set to Go?"
  • What is the timeline?
  • What is the problem? Easy access to affordable books that is consistent across the district. We need a common method to get ebooks. We need a clear vision of how to accomplish this.
  • establish plan and timeline for further research, decision-making, and implementation. Committee to come up with a solution to ebooks. Figure out the scope, costs, distribution. Committee consists of Robin HS, Judith MS, Sharon ES, Debbie ES, Jenn - Coordinator. Committee will look at all of the options, organize the options and bring it back to the whole group.
  • To Do - Come up with the ultimate solution to how to provide the best ebook solution.
  • other e-resources -
  • list common resources & subscriptions
  • determine best common method of access for students on iPads and computers
